Media Briefiing on Gender and Climate Change

On the 7th December 2022, League of Queens inaugurated 3 Climate Action Groups in Akwa Ibom state. The Climate Action Groups will lead the tree planting campaigns in their locality and also carry out the advocacy for waste disposal and waste recycling in the state. They will also monitor the actions of individuals, communities and government, particularly the local government to ensure they comply to national and international climate change frameworks.
The recent flooding in Nigeria which has affected a greater part of the Niger Delta region submerging large portions of agricultural land under water and displacing over a million people is an indication that there is need to adopt measures with urgency to address the root causes of the climate crisis.
